Outreach 3 Way Website Accessibility Statement

Introduction

Through our website, we aim to communicate with the people we support; families, parents and carers; support workers and volunteers; people who may want to work with us in the future; the organisations and businesses with whom we work; our supporters in the local community; and the general public.

Accessibility

We acknowledge that we have responsibilities in making our website as accessible as possible.

Firstly, we want to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities or additional needs by taking steps to ensure that, where possible, their experience of using our website matches that of any other visitor.

Secondly, we want to ensure that the presentation of materials on our website is compatible with the computing resources used by visitors. Our website has been built to interface with leading browser tools. Content will be designed, built and presented to meet the 'open' standards recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C/WIA).

Conformance and compliance

We acknowledge our responsibilities with regard to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 part 4 (as amended by the Special Education Needs Disability Act 2001) and the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, to make our website accessible to all.

In seeking to establish an appropriate benchmark against which to measure the effectiveness of compliance, we will observe the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, recommended as part of the W3C/WIA programme. In particular, we will aim to achieve conformance with the fourteen checkpoints recommended within these criteria at priority levels 1 and 2. This is more widely known as the 'AA' conformance standard.

We need your help!

There is much to learn about good accessibility practice - and we know that very few organisations get it right first time. We are, however, committed to ensuring that any issues or problems that do emerge are addressed promptly and effectively. This is where we need your help! If you have any difficulties with accessibility, please contact us and we'll do our best to make it better.

Looking ahead

In the future, we aim to undertake user group testing to ensure that our website reaches and is maintained at the required levels, and offers a rewarding experience to everyone who may wish to visit our site. This is part of our commitment to inclusive practice - something that lies at the heart of our work.
