Welcome to our community pages

Support from local businesses makes a huge difference to our work.  We're especially grateful to local recycling company MNH and Basepoint Business Centres Crawley for their long term support.  We benefit from corporate volunteering projects, too. As a charity, we see immediate, tangible benefits from renovation work on our gardens, buildings and outside spaces.  Those who take part have fun whilst working hard as a team, and we are always keen to organise joint publicity to celebrate the fantastic results they achieve.  If you would like to discuss any aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility activity or volunteering, please call us on 01293 551 627.

Our ten year partnership with MNH

Recycling specialists in the aviation sector, MNH Sustainable Cabin Services has a clear mission: to achieve zero landfill while supporting the local community.  The company is also a Positive About Disabled People accredited employer.  MNH have supported us in many different ways over the years - for instance, by raising over £900 through a raffle for two tickets to New York with Virgin Atlantic, and through renovating our Work Aid and Work Matters premises in Crawley.  We are proud to be one of MNH's partners, and greatly appreciate the support they have given us since 1999.  To find out more about MNH's work and ethos, please visit www.mnhscs.com.

How Basepoint Crawley goes the extra mile for Outreach 3 Way

Basepoint provides high-quality office space and workshops on flexible terms.  The company aims to build business communities that add value to the areas they are in, rather than simply locating small businesses under one roof.  The ACT Foundation is a leading UK grant-making organisation.  As the main trading arm of ACT, Basepoint's revenue helps make a difference to the people in society who need it most.  Basepoint have supported us by taking part in our Shining Star Fundraising Appeal and the London 10K run.  In 2010, Basepoint's Rebecca Gattinesi is going one (very big) step further and running the Brighton Marathon in aid of Outreach 3 Way.  To find out more about Basepoint's active programme of charitable work, please visit www.basepoint.co.uk/news.

Volunteering on a grand scale brings top results!

A group of 50 volunteers based at Gatwick airport came to support us and really got stuck in!  Vounteers came together from a number of companies, including BAA Gatwick, Virgin Holidays, Thomson, BDO Stay Hayward and Black and Veaten. They created a 130 metre long path providing safe access to the carpark, suitable for people using wheelchairs.  Gatwick contractors Dyer & Butler, Costain, Scion & Glendale all contributed with materials, resources and expertise.  Over two days volunteers repaired and replaced fences, landscaped the path and installed garden seating.  New white lines made the car park safer, too.

Outreach 3 Way CEO Catherine Sweeney commented, "We would like to thank the whole airport team for all their hard work, enthusiasm and efforts.  It will make a difference to the centre and the safety of our users. It really demonstrates the value that these types of community projects can bring to the charity and local people".

Royal Bank of Scotland: the inside story

Outreach 3 Way's horticultural unit enables people with learning disabilities to learn new skills in a caring, theraputic environment.  The group's rest room, used for breaks and lunch, is used every day and, sadly, was in a sorry state.  That was until 11 volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland came in laden with tools and transformed the room.  Horticultural Manager Malcolm Linfield commented, "We are thrilled at the fantastic job they made of our room.  We are truly grateful that the team from RBS really did make it happen for us".  Terry Glover of RBS, who organised the event, agreed the day was a great success and commented "we all enjoyed the oppourtunity of working with the charity."  The presentation of a cheque for £500 to support our work was gratefully received.

GlaxoSmithKline bring a fresh look to our gardens

Teams of volunteers from GSK landscaped two garden areas, making them attractive, safe and far more accessible for our service users.  With raised beds, level paths, new turf and freshly painted walls, the renovation project was a great success.  It has made a big difference to people with complex needs.  A doorway between the two areas means that the space can be used flexibly, according to the needs of individuals.  We were delighted to present certificates of appreciation to the teams involved, who shared tea and biscuits with Day Service users and Mayor of Crawley Brenda Burgess and her consort Councillor Bob Burgess.  Plants from our own horticulture centre have completed the transformation.
