Outreach 3Way was founded in 1979 by the late Reverend Edgar Wallace, with support from Toc H.

  A thriving community

Toc H is a charity with a fascinating history: it started in a shell-damaged house in a small Belgian town in World War I. Two young army chaplains decided to open a "respite club" for soldiers, regardless of rank - a haven from the pure hell of the trenches. Talbot House gave Toc H its unusual name, which comes from the army telephone jargon of the time! When, in Sussex in the 1970s, Wallace wanted to reach out to the local community, Toc H provided financial support.

Peace and open space

A large residential home (formerly a Barnardo home) was established in Ifield, near Crawley, offering a welcome to vulnerable people including those with a learning disability. Models of social support are different now, and Ifield Hall no longer exists: but the principles of inclusion and respect for all are still very much alive. Today, our day services, work programmes and head office all thrive in the peace and tranquillity of that same Ifield site.
